This is a free, community-wide program to inform women of all ages about
early detection strategies in breast cancer. Check It Out consists of an interactive
discussion about breast health, warning signs of cancer, early detection and treatment,
and related psycho-social issues. It is presented by a registered nurse, a cancer
survivor, a moderator, and a social worker in an age-appropriate, upbeat dialogue
with participants. Each participant will receive:
- A take-home breast model for discussion
with family members about how to detect abnormal breast lumps.
- Educational
pamphlets encouraging dialogue with family members and friends.
- Community
contacts for further information, mammography screening and coverage information,
and community support groups.
- A
bag with gifts and additional information on our supporting organizations.
