This is to be the major project of the Men's Club.  A staged reading (no has to memorize their part) with participation open to any BSKI member (men, women, children).  This should be a really fun chance to get into Theater, and have the fun and feeling of accomplishment of putting on a production.  This will also be a major fund raising effort for the Men's Club.  Read the information, get juiced up and let me know that yo want to work on this.  Remember, this is a reading, no memorization.  And plenty of need for crew and workers.

Carol Battle will be the Associate Director and we will be selling sponsorships, and ad space in the program, and the usual fund raising efforts.

Beshert; or the Jewish Dating Cycle

Kosher love is hard to find, but Men’s Club will be putting on a play following the adventures of Nadya Finkelstein, a single mom and eccentric professor at the University of Northern Southeast Missouri, as she struggles through the strange looking-glass world of dating over the age of 35.

Besides parts for Nadya, there are characters Esther Wise, Rose Wise, Sarah Wise and Rebecca Wise. Not to mention John Morgan, Izzy, Maribel, Woody and Avigdor and others who will need to be portrayed and brought to life.

And, as with any theatrical production there will be action behind the scenes to keep people busy, as well as (did I mention this is to be a major fund raising effort?) sales and marketing requirements. All of the functions that are required to put on the play, and make money from the play, will need to be done in this effort and we need willing volunteers.

If you want to be active and have a good time, and help BSKI earn some money, please call me (or e-mail)
The Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle Program is now in the work assignment phase, so that is another way to get involved and help the Men’s Club continue to be of service to BSKI. The majority of Men’s Club funds used for scholarships and other programming comes from our annual efforts to memorialize Yom HaShoah through the Yellow Candle Program. In 2010, the Yellow Candle will be lit April 11-12.

We are working to make the BSKI Men’s Club more of an active and important arm of our congregation. Join us.

Join the Men’s Club in our activities to support and aid BSKI and come to our meetings, generally the first Sunday of the month after morning services.

Thank you,
Don Pearline (6 Jan. 2010)

The new Sunday meetings will include lessons and practice for laying tefillin as we recognize the growing desire for many of our men to observe the mitzvah of wearing tefillin.

Note! Women are welcome as well, of course.

Thanks also to Harlie, Howard, Marvin, Shimon and Rabbi Miller for making the installation successful, and especially to Brad for his service as President.
