Welcome to Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel Synagogue! We are delighted that you are considering our congregation. We are a contemporary, egalitarian congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
For over 100 years we have come together to worship, study, celebrate, and support one another. We continue to remain a vibrant, dynamic, and involved Conservative Congregation. Our nearly 300 families represent diverse backgrounds in career and in level of observance. We are committed to shared experiences of worship, caring, education and social action. A genuinely welcoming atmosphere is nurtured and enhanced by Rabbi Mordecai Miller and the greetings extended to all those attending services and activities.
Our monthly congregational bulletin “The Shofar” and our weekly online “Blast” are rich sources of information about the congregation and the opportunities for participation. Because of our size and diversity, we are able to meet the needs of our congregants by offering a broad set of worship experiences, educational opportunities and religious and community outreach programs.
For our Adult members, we have an active Men’s Club, Women’s League, Social Action Committee, Adult Education Committee, Israel Committee, Music Committee, and Ritual Committee. Religious services are held twice daily, as well as on Shabbat and Holidays. We have a monthly Torah Talk, and Rabbi Miller holds several weekly classes on Rashi and Issues in Judaism. We “connect” with our College students by sending Chanukah and Passover holiday care packages. We serve our younger “congregants” with programs and services such as Shaare Sholom Religious School, Kadima, USY, Tot Shabbat, and our new Family Reading and Writing Program.
We encourage you to visit us and meet our Rabbi and congregants as you explore the diverse opportunities for Jewish expression that we offer. Please take a look at the rest of this site to see what we have in the way of social opportunities, prayer services, and volunteer opportunities. Once again, we extend a warm welcome to BSKI. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you, as you become part of our community.
Please call upon our Rabbi, staff, and lay leaders whenever we can assist you in becoming part of the Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel community.
Most sincerely,
Linda Makler
Membership and Outreach Vice President
