Well, you may be wondering what the heck it is. We did. When Passover ends, Sephardic Jews don't quietly just unpack their chametz. Instead, they celebrate the day after Passover as the renewal of nature and its blessings with a festival called Mahmoonah. In recent years, this custom has become increasingly popular among all Israeli Jews.
This Sephardic Passover custom and tradition is really a Post-Passover Celebration where people would typically visit with their circle of clergy, family and friends. Basically, the Mahmoonah is a love event. It's a happy event when people wish each other success and prosperity. The community opens its doors to all who enter with warm hospitality and the entire evening and next day is spent in celebration of friendship and peace. We’re going to make it easier for you and bring everyone together at BSKI. Mark your calendars and make your reservations for your whole (extended family and friends welcome) mishpucha for Friday night, April 21, following Shabbat services.
