Region's First Summer Festival Kicks Off As
The JCC to Hosts Its 18th Annual Tour de Fun June 1, 2008
More Than 3,000 Expected at The J's Millstone Campus Festival
ST. LOUIS - When schools let out after Memorial Day, the summer break's first fun-filled festival will await families in St. Louis. The JCC will host its 18th annual Tour de Fun Sunday, June 1, -- an event expected to draw more than 3,000 people to the Millstone Campus at 2 Millstone Campus Dr. near Creve Coeur, Mo. New this year will be a rock climbing wall and the building and launching of straw rockets courtesy of the Challenger Learning Center.
Created especially for families with children 10 and under, activities will include pony and train rides; fun with remote controlled cars; food from Kohn's Kosher Foods; arts and crafts; a circus demonstration; creative interactive areas; and large inflatable games. St. Louis children's entertainer Babaloo and Rascal, the River City Rascal's mascot will also be on hand. The event benefits the Helene Mirowitz Department of Jewish Community Life.
"With Tour de Fun slated to kick off the first full week of summer vacation, we're delighted to again be providing a great day of fun for families of all faiths," said Eddie Weinhaus event co-chair. "The event is open to members and non-members of the JCC." Weinhaus is co-chairing the event with Creighton Cohn. Since its inception in 1990, the event has been led by a committee of 20 to 30 dads.
In addition to the activities, classic and luxury cars as well as an ambulance and taxi cab will be on display. Noodle art, courtesy of Noodles & Company, will also be featured.
