ZAYYIN (7th Grade)

The underlying premises and goals of the Zayyin class are formulated in the context of the overall curriculum framework of the Shaare Shalom Hebrew School.  During the Zayyin class we aim to achieve the following:

READING
To continue practice in Hebrew reading accuracy using new parts of the Siddur and other texts

LANGUAGE/ISRAEL
To introduce modern, spoken Hebrew in the classroom setting and to develop a personal connection with the state of Israel

PRAYER/SIDDUR
A.        To review and maintain the skills of Hebrew prayer in the Siddur

B.         To review and strengthen reading accuracy and and discuss key concepts. in the following services:

  1. Mincha
  2. Maariv
  3. Havdalah
  4. Shabbat Musaf

CHUMASH/TANACH
To gain an understanding of Torah through the study of the Parashat HaShavuah
 
HOLIDAYS
To review and refresh the coming of each Jewish holiday throughout the year
