Re: Lost Boy of Sudan Programs
Mr. Mel Deng, Vice President of
Greater Kansas City Lostboys Network and one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, will speak at two important events in the
St. Louis area. As a young boy, Mr. Deng fled the violence in southern
Sudan with 1000s of other children, wandering for years through the
dangerous countryside before reaching a Kenyan refugee camp. The story of these young refugees
has been chronicled in the acclaimed documentary "The Lost Boys of Sudan." He will speak about his personal journey and the current genocide
that rages in Darfur.

- perhaps the deepest it has faced. Yesterday, the United Nations Security Council voted 12-0-3 to create a
United Nations peacekeeping force in Sudan's Darfur region, despite the Khartoum
government's strong opposition.
