Whereas,
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatens to wipe Israel from the map, denies the Holocaust and defies the democratic world by supporting terrorism and extremism.
Whereas,
with its clandestine and illegal nuclear program dangerously close to producing nuclear warheads, Iran represents a grave threat not just to Israel and the Middle East, but to the entire world.
Now Therefore,
It Is Hereby Resolved that Congregation Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel, BSKI condemns the anti-Semitic threats, Holocaust denial, support and funding of terrorism and nuclear policy of Iran, its president and its religious and governmental leaders.
Further Resolved
that Congregation Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel, BSKI encourages
its leadership and members to contact their elected officials and the UN in order that, until such time as Iran recognizes the state of Israel, admits the historical truth of the Holocaust' stops state support of terrorism and ends the development of nuclear weapons, punitive measures be imposed against the Iranian regime, for example:
* UN sanctions. The United Nations Security Council can agree on a sanctions resolution in the light of Iran’s continued nuclear defiance.
* Asset freezing. Foreign assets held by the Iranian regime can be frozen.
* A travel ban on Iran’s leaders. This would prevent them from addressing their message of hate to the international community, as President Ahmadinejad did when he spoke at the recent UN World Summit.
* Ending bilateral ties. Governments and parliaments around the world can cut diplomatic links, cooperation and trade agreements and other links with the Iranian regime.
* Breaking sporting and cultural links. Iran can be denied the privilege of participating in international events and competitions, such as the football World Cup, which will be played in Germany in 2006 in front of an audience of billions.
