St. Louis Save Darfur Coalition Sign-On For New Member Groups

Mission
To mobilize and educate a broad group of religious, human rights,
campus and civic organizations in the St. Louis region on the genocide in the
Darfur region of the Sudan and to stimulate advocacy efforts on behalf of the people of Darfur.

Goals

Equip Coalition member organizations with the knowledge and tools necessary to advocate for an end of the genocide and other crimes against humanity in Darfur.
Mobilize our community to press our U.S. leadership to meet four objectives:
Ending the violence and stabilizing Sudan
Providing adequate funding for humanitarian assistance to those in need
Creating conditions that would enable those displaced by violence to return to their homes
Holding the perpetrators of the atrocities accountable

Strategies

Delineate specific action steps and strategies to pursue
Identify resources on the current situation in Darfur and compile and distribute educational materials
Identify and engage influentials
Media and legislative campaigns will be developed through and coordinated by the Coalition
Create, promote and share educational and advocacy opportunities in our communities

Responsibilities of Coalition members

The non-partisan St. Louis Save Darfur Coalition is coordinated by the Jewish Community Relations Council and is comprised of organizations committed to advocacy on behalf of the victims of Darfur. Each organization will:

Be listed on the Coalition roster
Support the goals of the Coalition
Designate a staff person or volunteer to be the key contact for the Coalition
Commit to relay information, updates and action items developed by the Coalition to constituent groups and members
Inform Coalition members about Darfur-related events and activities being organized
