Dear Roland:
We are pleased to announce a four-week online mini-course, "Joseph, Oh Brother!" taught by Vered Hollander-Goldfarb.
It is hard to think of a more colorful biblical story than that of Joseph. We read it spellbound, from the complex family situation, through the conflicts that propel him from near-death in a pit to second-to-the-Pharaoh. In four lessons we will examine some of the major points of the Joseph narrative, using a close reading of the text as well as classic Jewish commentaries. In addition to gaining some more insights into this fascinating text, we will prepare the ground for examining how this story has influenced another biblical narrative, Megillat Esther.
The online course offers the opportunity to download material to study in hevruta, to discuss the material with class members in online forums, and to make use of the material for teaching, divrei Torah, and sharing with others. Since the course is asynchronous, you will be able to participate at your own pace, beginning next week and continuing through December.
Thanks to the generosity of the Legacy Heritage fund, we are able to offer this four session course to Conservative Yeshiva alumni for a registration fee of $50. (Alumni of Legacy Heritage fellowships may register for no charge.)
