Terrorist group

The U.S. government lists Hamas as a terrorist organization. Yet when this organization claims responsibility for a rocket that killed a young woman in her home in Israel, it is described in "Violence further strains Mideast truce" (July 15) as the Islamic militant group Hamas. Why not the "terrorist group" Hamas?

At least six times in the article, people who murder civilians in Israel are described as militant. Not once are they called what they really are: terrorists. Why is the murder of civilians a terrorist act when it occurs in New York or London but not in Israel
?
