Rob Bassin rejoined AIPAC in 2000 as the Political Director after a sixteen-year
hiatus. His professional career in the world of politics and government
began with AIPAC in 1983, as an assistant in the student program. In the
years between, Mr. Bassin built a distinguished political career working
on the Presidential campaign of Walter Mondale as the Deputy Director for
Jewish Affairs in New York City, and as a special assistant to North
Dakota Senator Kent Conrad. At the age of 25, Mr. Bassin founded Bassin
Associates, a D.C. based political consulting firm. In 1996, after having
worked for Chief Deputy Whip, Georgia Representative John Lewis in a variety
of positions, Rob was asked to become Lewis's Chief of Staff. Following
seven years of serving as a trusted aid to Congressman Lewis, Rob returned
to his roots, and is now serving as the head of AIPAC's Political Department.
